iPhone user hates iOS 7 so much that he’s suing Apple over it

Brighter colors and flat icons just aren’t for everybody. That said, it seems that iPhone user Mark Menacher hates them much more than anyone else. CNET reports that Menacher has actually filed a suit against Apple in small claims court and is asking the company to let him remove the iOS 7 install file from his iOS devices. Menacher is particularly irked that the upgrade to iOS 7 happened automatically and that he has no way of going back to iOS 6.

iOS 7 takes another beating in critique from design expert

We have covered Apple’s new iOS 7 software extensively and we’re clearly fans of Apple’s mobile overhaul. iOS 7 is more about renovation than innovation, but Apple did an impressive job of redesigning every visual element of the platform while still managing to maintain familiarity for longtime iOS users. Of equal importance, Apple also laid the groundwork for innovation in upcoming new builds of iOS. But not everyone is impressed, and the Nielsen Norman Group recently panned iOS 7 in an extensive user experience review. Now, a new critique from a well-credentialed designer further supports the notion that Apple made some serious missteps in iOS 7, and that it has a lot of work to do if it hopes to clean things up.

The company still has plenty in the pipeline, but the co-stars of next week’s event are expected to be a completely redesigned fifth-generation iPad as well as an updated iPad mini with a brand new Retina display. Both of the new devices will launch soon after being announced at next week’s event, and there’s plenty more in store from Apple next week.

Apple to bring FaceTime Audio feature in iOS 7

Apple could be taking its FaceTime service to a new level with iOS 7, which should be worrying for carriers. With iOS 7, Apple is finally launching FaceTime Audio, which will let the users do high-quality audio calls over Wi-Fi on any iOS device, iMore reports. This will be a value addition especially for those who would prefer an audio-only call instead of a video call.

The feature will certainly be a killer addition as it will allow users to make a voice call over a Wi-Fi network, saving the user from spending money while using the carrier’s voice service. However, being restricted to Wi-Fi only is also a flaw to the feature considering that one would not be able to use it over 3G.

In addition to that it is expected that the user of the feature will also be able to block unwanted people from sending FaceTime audio as well as video call requests. FaceTime Audio is expected to be released for use with iOS 7.

iPhone 5S fingerprint scanner seemingly confirmed in iOS 7

It was always rumored that the next iPhone, probably called the iPhone 5S, will have some sort of biometric security features. It seems that we have our first confirmation that the feature actually exists in the next iPhone thanks to some references in the latest iOS 7 beta 4 that was released a couple of hours ago. Spotted by 9to5Mac, the UI suggests that the next iPhone’s home button will also house a fingerprint scanner. A user will be able to use either hand and swipe the thumb over the home button for the scanner to scan the fingerprint.

Apple acquired AuthenTec, a company specializing in biometric security, especially fingerprint scanners that fueled rumors about Apple implementing fingerprint scanner technology in the next iPhone. Now it seems almost a certainty that will be the case.

iOS 7 brings India specific English keyboard

New details about iOS 7 are emerging thick and fast since the launch of iOS 7 beta 2. The latest bit to add in the already growing list is the new on-screen keypad that brings more local elements when compared to that on iOS 6.
While Apple had introduced Hindi and Tamil keypads in iOS 6, it has added the र symbol for Indian Rupee instead of the $ that was present in iOS 6. Other major change in the keypad is that the space button is now a proper space bar and some keys have been moved around to make space for it. We do not know whether this is the final keyboard that would come with the final release or whether Apple would move around the keys even more.

iOS 7 To Wipe Out Old Apps, Paves Way For New

iOS 7 has lots of new things to its name (check the links 1and 2) and now it is going to get new apps. Marco Arment, one of the first developers at Tumblr and creator of Instapaper, in a post on his blog wrote “One of my favorite patterns in our industry is when the old and established are wiped out by disruption, irrelevance, or changing fashions. Like a forest fire, clearing out the old is very destructive and shouldn’t be taken lightly. But what’s left behind is a clean slate and immense opportunity.”
