iOS 7 To Wipe Out Old Apps, Paves Way For New

iOS 7 has lots of new things to its name (check the links 1and 2) and now it is going to get new apps. Marco Arment, one of the first developers at Tumblr and creator of Instapaper, in a post on his blog wrote “One of my favorite patterns in our industry is when the old and established are wiped out by disruption, irrelevance, or changing fashions. Like a forest fire, clearing out the old is very destructive and shouldn’t be taken lightly. But what’s left behind is a clean slate and immense opportunity.”

According to him, the developers associated with Apple’s App Store have long been able to maintain their position by just inculcating the new features to the app that suits the new update to the iOS. But “iOS7 is different,” he says, “It isn’t just a new skin: it introduces entirely new navigational and structural standards far beyond the extent of any previous UI changes. Existing apps can support iOS 7 fairly easily without looking broken, but they’ll look and feel ancient. Their developers are in a tough position.”
