Google loves making our lives easier and fun by regularly announcing new software and devices. The latest such product to come out of the Mountain View-based company is the Chromecast, a dongle that brings universal streaming from any device to one’s TV.
The Chromecast looks like a pendrive at first glance and is actually the same size as one. You plug it to your TV’s HDMI port and connect it to Wi-Fi and it is all set to stream anything from any device in the range. It is a very simple product with no learning curve at all and can mirror anything that is on your device onto the TV. The streaming also works in the background, meaning that you can continue working on your smartphone or tablet and not worry about the video stopping.
Forrester Research analyst Sarah Rotman Epps said Chromecast could undermine Apple in the still-nascent market to plug streaming devices into TVs, just as the Nexus tablets have siphoned some sales away from Apple’s iPad.The Chromecast looks like a pendrive at first glance and is actually the same size as one. Chromecast is not restricted to any OS and will work on any device iOS included. Google announced that the dongle will be available in the US from today itself for $35 (Rs 2,050 approximately) and should arrive in other countries in the near future.
