MapmyIndia’s ‘Locate’ app lets one track a friend or family member in real-time

Indian navigation services provider MapmyIndia today announced the launch of a new people tracking app called ‘Locate’. This Android app basically helps in keeping track of friends or family members in real-time.
The app allows one to add three people to their locate list and the app will keep a track of them on a map in real-time. The app will use GPS, Wi-Fi or cell tower triangulation to pinpoint the location. Additionally, the app will also use the concerned person’s check-ins or automatically check in every 500 meters to give an updated location.
Though the app automatically makes the user discoverable by default, one has the freedom to set it off or choose which day or at what particular time one wants to be discovered. The app also has an archive feature wherein the app will store the person’s locations from the last five days.
For now, the app is only available for Android users via the Google Play Store. Other mobile users can use the feature from their phone’s browser on locate.mapmyindia.com
