It’s no secret that Samsung has been working on a new OS of its own called Tizen and the first smartphone running on this OS was expected to be launched this quarter. But now, Korean website iNews24 reports that the launch has been pushed to the next quarter due to some issues on the OS.
The report claims that Samsung is not happy with the app ecosystem in its current form and wants it to be a bit more refined before it releases the OS to the masses.
It is not surprising to see Samsung leaving no stones unturned as competing against the likes of Android and iOS, who dominate the current market, won’t be an easy task. The report also mentions that Samsung could be targeting the IFA 2013 in Berlin to preview its new OS.
According to rumors, Samsung’s first Tizen device would be a mid-ranger, which will be powered by Samsung’s own quad-core Exynos 4412 chipset clocked between 1.4 to 1.6GHz and will be based on the ARM Cortex A9 architecture. There will also be an ARM Mali 400 GPU powering the graphics.
