Alongside the announcement of the new Nexus 7 and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, Google also released an all new gaming center called Google Play Games. This is based on the Play Games API and services that the company had unveiled at I/O this year. Besides this, Google also added a Textbook segment for students in its Play Books.
In terms of value additions, the Play Game app comes with listings for both games and friends in a single screen. The gaming hub will let users add friends from their Google plus circles. Moreover, one can also keep a track of a friend’s scores, achievements and other such features.
It also features a social leaderboard along with public leaderboard and a user can easily check details of games one is playing or their friends are playing, and more. The Google Play Games also offers an array of new games like Prince of Persia 2, Asphalt 8 and more which now offer better graphics, detailed features and technology. In addition to the above, the company has also added a new textbook category in Google Play Books. The feature will be available on the web, Android as well as the iOS platform. It will offer higher education textbooks in major subjects and will allow students to buy or rent textbooks at up to 80 percent rebate for up to six months or for free. This new section will allow users to search, bookmark, add notes, and do more on their textbooks available in this section. The feature will be available in early August.
