Microsoft to launch Windows 8.1 on October 18

After much speculation and rumors surrounding the launch date of Microsoft’s Windows 8.1 update, the company today has finally announced to make it available on 12:00 AM on October 18 in New Zealand, or 5:30 PM on October 17 in India. The company has also revealed that the free update to Windows 8.1 will start rolling out through Windows Store for users of Windows 8, and will also be available through retail stores and on new hardware from October 18 itself.


Windows 8.1 brings a set of new innovation and improvement in services including Internet Explorer 11, Bing-powered search, built-in apps including a few new ones, an improved Windows Store experience, and cloud connectivity with SkyDrive, personalization of the interface and more.

The company has already released the preview of Windows 8.1 for enterprises.
