Following rumors surrounding Apple working on smartphones with bigger displays, a new report now suggests that the Cupertino-based company is planning to launch its anticipated iWatch in two variants. According to Korean Herald (via Macrumors), Apple is working on two different variants of its smartwatch, which will vary mainly on the basis of its display size. Essentially there is a smartwatch planned for men and a relatively smaller one for women. “Apple’s wearable iWatch is expected to come with a 1.7-inch OLED display for men’s watches and a 1.3-inch OLED screen for women” David Hsieh, an analyst, and vice president at DisplaySearch, has been quoted saying.
These watches will come with AMOLED displays with320x320 pixels resolution, and these displays are alsospeculated to be flexible. However, it is still just a speculation considering that Samsung’s next variants of smartwatch are also rumored to don flexible displays, though there is no conformation on that. Apple was earlier also reported to be tapping LG for iWatch displays.
Also, reportedly Apple might launch the iWatch by the end of this year, which looks a bit unlikely at the moment.
Apple has for long been working on the wearable tech and is trying every bit to make it better than others notably Samsung’s Galaxy Gear and Sony Smartwatch in the market. The company has hired key designers from Nike, who played a big part in the FuelBand.
