Apple is reportedly set to launch its new iPads – the iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina Display – in India on November 29, NDTV claims. Apple announced the new iPads last month and started selling the iPad Air in the US and other countries on November 1 and the new iPad mini with Retina Display from yesterday. If the launch date is true, Apple would continue the usual four week difference between the US and India iPad launches. We have independently verified the launch date. The report also mentions the prices, which we have not been able to verify ourselves.
According to the report, the Wi-Fi version of the iPad mini with Retina Display will start from Rs 28,900 and will increase by Rs 7,000 with every bump in internal storage. The 32GB version will cost Rs 35,900, 64GB Rs 42,900 and 128GB Rs 49,900.
The iPad mini with Retina Display Cellular version will start from Rs 37,900 for 16GB, Rs 44,900 for 32GB, Rs 51,900 for 64GB and Rs 58,900 for 128GB.
The iPad Air Wi-Fi version will start from Rs 35,900 for 16GB, Rs 42,900 for 32GB, Rs 49,900 for 64GB and Rs 56,900 for 128GB. The cellular version, meanwhile, will start from Rs 44,900 for 16GB, Rs 51,900 for 32GB, Rs 58,900 for 64GB and Rs 65,900 for 128GB.
The report also suggests that the first-gen iPad mini 16GB Wi-Fi will continue to retail for Rs 21,900 while the 3G version would get a price bump from Rs 29,900 to Rs 30,900. The iPad 2 16GB will continue to sell for Rs 28,900 and Rs 37,900 for the Wi-Fi and Cellular variants respectively.
