Instagram allows users to embed photos and videos on other sites

In another move to outpace Vine, the Facebook-owned Instagram has announced web embedding for Instagram content, which will allow sharing of photos and videos to the web by using the related embed code. This will let the Instagram user to expand the reach of their photos and videos to the masses on the web. And for those concerned about the privacy of content, this embed code is only available to those whose photos and videos are public.
Users can share their photos and videos on other websites by pasting the embed code displayed in the share button on the right side of the photo or video page on Instagram’s desktop web browser.
One can simply copy, paste and publish this embed code anywhere on the web. While doing so, Instagram has also assured to feature the user’s name on the embedded photo or video that would be published elsewhere on the web. Moreover, clicking on the Instagram logo given alongside will navigate people to the user’s page on Instagram.com.
Some believe that when Twitter launched Vine that Instagram also became active on making its service even better by introducing new features like support for video. Kevin Systrom, CEO of Instagram refused this thought process as he claimed that video was in the original vision of Instagram, but at the time bandwidth was not good enough to deliver video properly on the web.
With the addition of video, Instagram’s decision to allow users makes a lot of sense, considering sharing of videos is very popular on the web. Instagram’s video service allows users to take and share up to 15-second long video, against the Vine which is capable of taking only 6-second video. Instagram is believed to have over 130 million active users, and is aiming at gaining more in future.
