Psy YouTube channel records 3 billion views

The popular ‘Gangnam Style’ song fame South Korean pop star Psy has hit a major milestone on YouTube by registering over 3 billion views on his YouTube channel. According to Billboard’s Social 50 chart for the week ending on July 14, Psy’s YouTube channel has become the fifth Channel to cross the 3 billion views figure.
Psy is ranked as the third artist, only after Justin Bieber and Rihanna, to cross this mark. The Billboard’s Social 50 ranking is based on the most popular artists on YouTube, Vevo, Facebook, Twitter, SoundCloud, Wikipedia, Myspace and Instagram, and is prepared considering weekly additions of fans or followers or friends, and artist page views, song plays and reactions.
According to Next Big Sound, this was mainly due to a rise noticed in weekly streaming of Psy videos which included 69 million more plays, which is 93 percent up from the previous week. Besides this, Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ video passed the 1.7 billion plays mark, which is nearing to becoming the first YouTube video to reach the 2 billion views mark.
Earlier, PSY’s Gentleman was recorded to be the most viewed video online within 24 hours of its launch on April 14. Soon after, it marked the 100 million views mark within four days, passing by his Gangnam Style record which reached the same milestone in two months.
