Xolo Play with Nvidia Tegra 3 processor available for pre-booking for Rs 15,999

After bringing Intel powered smartphones to India, Xolo has now revealed its much rumored new smartphone named the Play T1000 which boasts the power of Nvidia Tegra 3 processor. In fact, it becomes the cheapest Tegra 3 powered smartphone in India. Lava is taking pre-booking orders in association with an e-commerce portal. The phone will be available from July 15 for Rs 15,999.
Talking about the specifications, the major attraction of the smartphone is that it will be powered by 1.5GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor which combines a 416MHz 12 Core Nvidia ULP GeForce GPU and 1GB of RAM. The phone also features 4GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded by up to 32GB through a microSD card.
This is Xolo’s first smartphone in the T series, which is expected to be dedicated to the gaming freaks. For this, the Xolo Play will also feature support for Nvidia Tegra optimized games through the Nvidia TegraZone.
The phone has a 4.7-inch HD display with 720×1280 pixels resolution and pixel density of 312PPI. The phone weighs 167 grams, and measures 10.4 mm thick, and will be a single SIM phone. On software front, it runs on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, which can be a letdown to those who were expecting 4.2 Jelly Bean on the phone.
Besides these, the phone will sport an 8-megapixel rear camera with a BSI sensor and a 2-megapixel front camera. One will be able to play as well as shoot videos at full HD 1080p using the rear camera.
The Play will house a 2,000-mAh battery which the company claims will be able to offer a talk time for up to 11.2 hours on 2G and up to 9 hours on 3G. On connectivity front it will support 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS/ AGPS.
For this price and a powerful set of specifications, the Xolo Play will be a tough competition to the newly launched Micromax Canvas 4 A210 and Karbonn Titanium S9 smartphones. The Micromax’s highly hyped Canvas 4 features a 1.2GHz MediaTek quad-core processor which is not in the same league as the Nvidia Tegra 3 in terms of performance and is priced for Rs 17,999. The Karbonn Titanium S9 is launched with 720p display, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and a 1.2GHz Mediatek quad-core processor for Rs 19,990.
