Microsoft will release Windows 8.1 in October according to a report by ZDnet. This has also been verified by TheVerge. The release to manufacturing (RTM) build of Windows 8.1 will be given to Microsoft’s partners and OEMs by the end of August, so that they can complete testing of their own drivers by the time Microsoft rolls out the update to the public in October.
While Microsoft will finalise the operating system by the end of the month, the idea is that gap between the finalisation of the OS and the October release will give Microsoft extra time to roll out further updates and bug fixes, so that the consumer gets a problem free OS.
