Skype today has launched an updated version of its iOS app with high definition video call support, which was earlier seen on its app for Windows Phone 8 as well. Besides support for HD video calls at 720p, the new version of the app for iPhone and iPad also brings improvements in audio and voice call quality, an easier to use country code selector and some bug fixes. The update also comes with a significant improvement in stability based issues faced by the iOS 7 beta users.
Skype has added this feature to take its iOS app at par its apps on other platform but the update comes with a catch as this HD quality video call at 720p resolution support will only be available to iOS device featuring Retina display including iPhone 5 or iPad 4. Though, other stability improvements, handier country code table and performance based updates will be available on all Apple devices running iOS version 5.0 and above. The updated app for iPhone can be downloaded from here and for iPad from here.
