Google extends support to Chrome for Windows XP till April 2015

PC users still stuck on Windows XP maybe dreading the arrival of April 2014, when Microsoft finally stops providing support and updates on the ageing OS. But not everything is grim as Google has announced that it won’t be pulling the plug on its Chrome browser for XP and will continue to support it till April 2015, which is a whole year after Microsoft ends its support.

“We recognize that a good chunk of current Chrome users, still rely on XP and our goal is to support Chrome for XP users during this transition process,” Google’s Mark Larson wrote in a blog. “Most importantly, Chrome on XP will still be automatically updated with the latest security fixes to protect against malware and phishing attacks.”

Google points out that browsers are often used to exploit vulnerabilities in operating systems and with Internet Explorer not getting security updates post April 2014, Chrome would be the most secure browser to ensure one’s PC stays safe.
