HTC One mini officially launched in India for Rs 36,790

Last week the smaller sibling of the HTC One was listed on various Indian e-commerce sites and we expected the company to launch the device soon. A week later, HTC today officially launched the One mini in India for Rs 36,790.

To recap the specifications, the One mini flaunts a 4.3-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) display cramming in 341ppi and is powered by a dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.4GHz. Other features included are 1GB of RAM, Ultrapixel rear camera with LED Flash and a BSI Sensor, 1.6-megapixel front camera, Beats audio support, 16GB of internal storage and a 1,800mAh battery. On the software front, the device runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean wrapped under Sense 5 UI and comes pre-loaded with HTC’s BlinkFeed, Zoe and BoomSound.

Launching a mini variant of one’s flagship device has become somewhat of a fad among the big players and the One mini joins the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini and the Sony Xperia Z1 f. Unlike Sony though, HTC seems to have got the combo slightly wrong. It’s hit the nail in terms of design giving people a smaller variant of its popular One, but it has heavily compromised on the specifications front and has also priced it quite high.

In terms of competition, it’s supposed to compete against the likes of the Galaxy S4 mini, but the latter is priced nearly Rs 12,000 less. For One mini’s price you could easily get the HTC Butterfly or the LG Optimus G.
