Kaspersky Lab has published its latest Security Network Bulletin for the Q3, 2013 (July-Sep 2013), which includes information on the website threats, local threats, malicious and spam evolution, gathered by the company during this quarter. According to the findings of the report, India stood at 18th place worldwide when it came to web-surfing related threats, and more than 52 percent of computers attacked by local threats which put India at fourth place worldwide for being vulnerable to such threats.
Karpersky has detected nearly 22 million Internet-borne malware incidents attacking the computers of the participants in India. Most of the malicious programs got access to a user’s system via the web browsers. As compared to the last quarter report, this quarter’s report recorded 146.5 million local malware incidents, which were caused mainly via worms and file virus infected removable USB drives, CDs and DVDs, and other “offline” methods.
Also, reportedly, out of all the malicious attacks incidents caused by malware, India hosted 388,277 of these incidents. Further, India stood seventh and accounted for 3.72 percent of spam sent via email traffic through computers and servers based in India.
