LG’s latest Android flagship smartphone, the G2, might be making headlines for its eccentric placement of the volume rocker and power button at the back of the phone, there are many more innovations that the company has done in the phone that are actually worth talking. And the G2 delivers a feature that I have been longing for a long time now.
The LG G2 has a guest mode feature that lets you predefine what apps guests can access on your phone. This is very similar to the kids corner in Windows Phone 8 but much more usable, customizable and secure. The guest mode on the G2 can be setup from the settings menu. However, before starting you will need to set your phone lock to pattern mode. Then the system will ask ask you to create a separate pattern to activate the guest mode.
Users can select which apps can be accessible in guest mode so it will keep everything else hidden from the guest user. Like Windows Phone 8, you can also set it up as a kids corner where you make only apps relevant to your child accessible, without having to worry about accidentally deleted apps, messages, contacts or other information.
I’m sure other Android smartphone vendors will start implementing this feature if Google itself doesn’t do it in the upcoming Android 4.4 KitKat release later this month.
