LG Chromebase: World’s first all-in-one computer running on Chrome OS announced

Google’s minimal Chrome OS is seen working on laptops, and now it has finally made it to the desktop PCs. LG has taken the wraps off the Chromebase, the world’s first all-in-one computer to run on Chrome OS. LG will officially launch the PC at CES 2014.
Talking of hardware, the Chromebase flaunts a 21.5-inch full HD IPS (1920×1080 pixels) display and is powered by an Intel Celeron CPU, paired with 2GB of RAM. Other features include 16GB of internal storage, 1.3-megapixel webcam that supports 720p video recording, built-in 5W speakers and connectivity options like HDMI in, USB 2.0 ports, USB 3.0 ports and LAN port.

LG G Pad 8.3 Google Edition launched in the US

Yesterday, a @evleaks tweet about a device codenamed LG V510 being a Nexus device created quite a bit of buzz as many, including us, thought it was the forthcoming Nexus 10. Turns out it isn’t, but what it is, is the Google Edition of LG’s G Pad 8.3. The device is now available on the US Google Play Store for $349 (Rs 21,400 approximately), but unfortunately there’s no word on when it could come to India.

LG G Pro Lite available online for Rs 18,300 in India

The affordable version of LG’s G Pro phablet, called the G Pro Lite is now selling online for Rs 18,300 in India,FoneArena reports. The company had unveiled the dual-SIM compatible phone about two weeks back and had mentioned it would launch it soon in India. The G Pro Lite has not yet been officially launched in India but with devices surfacing on online retail stores, we believe the announcement would be just around the corner.

LG G2 has one feature we want in every Android smartphone

LG’s latest Android flagship smartphone, the G2, might be making headlines for its eccentric placement of the volume rocker and power button at the back of the phone, there are many more innovations that the company has done in the phone that are actually worth talking. And the G2 delivers a feature that I have been longing for a long time now.

The LG G2 has a guest mode feature that lets you predefine what apps guests can access on your phone. This is very similar to the kids corner in Windows Phone 8 but much more usable, customizable and secure. The guest mode on the G2 can be setup from the settings menu. However, before starting you will need to set your phone lock to pattern mode. Then the system will ask ask you to create a separate pattern to activate the guest mode.

LG PD233 Pocket Photo printer launched in India for Rs 14,990

LG has launched a pocket-sized photo printer called LG PD233 Pocket Photo. The printer is compatible with Android and iOS devices and is available at retail stores across India for Rs 14,990.

The LG PD233 is ultra-portable and can easily fit into one’s pocket and connects to a smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or NFC. You can print any photo on from your mobile device onto 5.1×7.6cm papers. The printer is also believed to be value for money as it uses a printing technology called ‘Zink’, which essentially uses an inkless paper system to eliminate the need for expensive ink cartridges.

The printer requires you to download the LG Pocket photo app, using which you can print photographs, birthday invitations, business cards and also personalize them using QR codes. The app also offers simple editing tools for photographs before you print them.

With the HTC One and Samsung S4 already here, it might be a bit too late to review the Nexus 4. But we decided to go ahead due to three reasons. Firstly, it is for the first time that a Google smartphone has officially become available in India. Secondly, its launch price is very competitive. And, lastly, we needed to test the plain vanilla Android OS.

LG outs world’s slimmest 1080p display which measures just 2.2mm

These days smartphone vendors are obsessed with keeping their products thin. Ask Apple, Samsung and LG, and slimness is the biggest focus for them. To meet such demands the internals also have to be slim. LG Display for one has made a big leap and has unveiled the world’s slimmest 1080p panel that’s just 2.2mm thick.
It’s a 5.2-inch display and even has almost indiscernible 2.3mm bezel. To get hit size zero, LG implements its ‘Advanced One-Glass-Solution’ that puts flexible circuits between the panel and the touch sensor with 30 percent fewer lines on the panel.

LG is making a Windows Phone smartphone: Report

LG is planning to soon join the likes of HTC and Samsung amongst others by announcing a Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system smartphone, which according to a report by the LightReadingIndia is under development in their R&D centre. However, there is no information on the launch of the Windows Phone 8 smartphone, as the company is assessing the market opportunity attached to it and thus has not yet decided on its release.
On the sidelines of the LG Optimus G Pro launch, Kwon Soon, LG India’s managing director has reportedly revealed LG’s plans regarding a Windows Phone 8 based smartphone and said that, ‘At home (South Korea), we are actually working on our Windows Phone 8 OS powered smartphone.’ Kwon believes that ‘Microsoft is pumping efforts’ in the Windows platform, which will eventually help ‘Windows pick up going ahead.’

LG Optimus G Pro launched in India for Rs 42,500

LG has launched the Optimus G Pro in India for Rs 42,500. The Optimus G Pro is LG’s latest and greatest phablet that locks its crosshairs on the Samsung Galaxy Note II.
In terms of specs, we get a device that basically offers best in class hardware that can go toe-to-toe with the likes of the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4. We get a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, 2GB of RAM and an 5.5-inch IPS display that has a 1080p resolution and converts to 400 pixels per inch.

LG to use Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 in Optimus G series replacement

Snapdragon 800 claimed to have 75-percent more performance than S4 Pro

LG will be using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor in a future replacement for the manufacturer's Optimus G series of smartphones. The change in processor is an upgrade from the earlier Snapdragon chips used in earlier Optimus G devices, with LG claiming it to have "up to 75-percent better performance" than the Snapdragon S4 Pro.

LG working on voice commands based Android smartphone

Unlike Apple's Siri, the LG Android device will be using the voice assistance throughout the device with deeper integration.


LG is working on a new smartphone which will have deeply integrated voice assistant that is said to be better than even Apple's Siri , according to a report.
Though there are some voice assistant applications like Speak to it Assistant (even Google Now offers voice activated actions) on Android but their integration to the device's core functions is missing.

LG said to be working on a phone with always on voice commands that will arrive in 2014

Voice commands are becoming a staple when it comes to phones and tablets these days. Apple pushed it into the lime light with Siri and Google refined it with Google Now. While some of the features seem to be for novelty sake companies like Samsung and LG are taking a look at using it for navigational purposes. With that being said it appears that LG is working on a phone that will debut some time in 2014 that will feature voice commands at the core of its system.
