Apple Mac Pro goes on sale for Rs 229,900

After unveiling the Mac Pro earlier this year at the WWDC, Apple launched the futuristic cylindrical PC in October. It had promised that the PC would go on sale in December, and right on cue it has hit the stores with prices starting from Rs 229,900.
The Mac Pro follows a revolutionary design language with a cylindrical body measuring 9.9×6.6 inch, with a shell outside that lifts up to reveal the interiors of the CPU. The PC is powered new-generation Intel Xeon E5 processors with up to 12 cores of processing power, and new PCIe-based flash storage that works 2.5 times faster than the SATA SSD. This apart, it offers dual AMD FirePro workstation-class GPU with up to 6GB of dedicated VRAM, and support for high definition videos at up to 4000p.
On connectivity front, it will come with built-in Thunderbolt 2, USB 3, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI 1.4 ports, and wireless connectivity will include 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. On the software front, the Mac Pro runs on OS X Mavericks and comes bundled with apps like Final Cut Pro X, Logic Pro X and Aperture.

he PC is available in different variants with prices starting at Rs 229,900 for the 3.7GHz quad-core Xeon E5, dual AMD FirePro D300 GPUs with 2GB of VRAM each, 12GB RAM, 256GB PCie-based flash storage; Rs 299,900 for the 3.5GHz six-core Xeon E5, dual AMD FirePro D500 GPUs with 3GB of VRAM each, 16GB RAM, 256GB PCIe-based flash storage.
Faster 8-12 12-core Intel Xeon E5 processors, AMD FirePro D700 GPUs with 6GB of VRAM, up to 64GB of memory, and up to 1TB of PCIe-based flash storage will be available under configure-to-order options.
