VLC media player returns to iOS after two years

VideoLAN has announced that its popular VLC media player has made a return to Apple’s iOS platform and will be available for all devices running iOS 5.1 or beyond.
VLC media player 2.0 is open source, but this time around its code is available online. The new app is a full rewrite and is much more than an incremental upgrade. The app is now faster thanks to modern output modules for audio and video and also supports multi-code decoding.
VideoLAN has added more ways to synchronise media for instance now users can use Wi-Fi to upload files or even use cloud storage services like DropBox via the share button. There is also support for network streams, video filters, passcode lock, background audio playback, subtitles and playback speed manipulation.
