Vodafone India has announced that it will use Cisco, the global IT solutions provider’s technology to build an Internet Protocol-based architecture in India. This essentially means, by using Cisco’s advanced network solutions, Vodafone will be able provide better and faster mobile broadband data speeds in the country.
Cisco will provide Vodafone with an advanced multiservice convergence platform, which can cater to the operator’s different kinds of network requirements on a single platform.
This IP-based infrastructure is more flexible and also cost-effective, while providing better service to the customers. Cisco has forecasted that there will be 2 billion networked devices in India by 2017, up from 1 billion in 2012, and mobile data traffic is expected to grow 60 fold from 2012 to 2017.
“We are investing in technology and getting IP-fication of our backhaul networks done, Vodafone’s Vishant Vora said. “It will further enhance our customers’ experience. We look forward to working with Cisco, as it has extensive hands-on experience in many markets and the most comprehensive portfolio of broadband solutions in the industry.”
